VENETIAN MACAU HOTEL – Review and Experience

VENETIAN MACAU HOTEL – Review and Experience

For those planning a trip to Macau, we share a Venetian Macau Hotel review, to help you choose where to stay in Macau – the Vegas of Asia.

Known as the Vegas of Asia, Macau is an ever-growing metropolis, filled with big brand hotels and casinos. Just a short ferry from Hong Kong, Macau is a great place to head to if you’re looking for some fun. We took a trip to Macau for two nights, staying at The Venetian Macau Hotel. Another great Sands Resort, Venetian is worth a stay for those who love a bit of luxury.

Why visit Macau?

Nicknamed the Vegas of Asia, Macau is a unique place to visit in Asia. With themed hotels resembling those you would get on the Las Vegas strip standing alongside Portuguese-influenced architecture and ruins, Macau is a place of interesting contrasts. Spend time visiting the different hotels and casinos, try the local food and visit St Pauls Ruins on this island just off Hong Kong.

Getting to Macau

From Hong Kong, we headed to the Hong Kong Macau Ferry Terminal, located at Shun Tak Centre in Sheung Wan. Head to the 3rd floor where you can find the TurboJet ticketing office or use the automatic machines. Once you have purchased your tickets you need to check in and get your passports checked at immigration – just like you would a flight. Head to your departure gate and follow the instructions from the boarding staff.

The Venetian Macau Shuttle Bus

Once we arrived at Macau we easily found the Venetian shuttle bus parked outside arrivals and jumped on, free of charge. After a short wait, we headed past the sights of Macau to the Venetian. On arrival, we headed to the reception and were politely greeted and checked in by a lovely gentleman – who always checked we were ok and happy every time he saw us for the rest of our stay. We were upgraded to a room with a view and taken to our suite.

Rooms at Venetian Macau

Every room at this hotel is a suite and incredibly well decorated to follow the Venetian style. Our suite was spacious and luxurious with such a comfortable bed with thick fluffy pillows. The bathtub was wide and deep whilst the shower was powerful and easy to use. The rooms are elegant, with gorgeous detailing all over the suite.

For the price, this is a luxurious option in Asia and the prices reflect this. Although cheaper than the rooms at The Venetian in Vegas, this is still a pricey hotel room compared to other hotels in Macau (off the strip) and nearby countries in Asia.

The food at Venetian Macau

There are plenty of restaurants and food options to choose from in The Venetian hotel, these are just some of our favourites:

  • North – Watch experienced chefs make some incredible Chinese food including steamed dumplings and hand-pulled noodles.
  • Hiro by Hiroshi Kagata – For some amazing sushi and sashimi, head to this Japanese restaurant. You can also try some teppanyaki and tempura here too and there are ramen-only lunch choices from 12pm to 3pm.
  • McSorley’s Ale House – For a classic sports bar, head to this (somewhat) Irish bar. You can enjoy classic pub food here, including burgers, chicken wings and fish and chips.
  • The Golden Peacock – For amazing Indian flavours, head to the Golden Peacock.

Things to do at Venetian Macau

Of course, you can spend your time gambling; which is what many choose to do in this hotel. However, there are plenty of other things to spend your time doing whilst staying at this popular hotel in Macau.

Firstly, you can enjoy shipping! The hotel has a huge shopping area, full of high-end brands such as Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Hermes along with other western brands such as Marks & Spencers and Zara.

Where to stay in Macau

You can also enjoy a Gondola ride from 12pm to 8pm; these can be a romantic option through the canals of shoppes inside The Venetian.

Head to the Cotai Expo for the current expo. During our stay, we visited the Titanic exhibition; a look into the history and events of the sinking of the Titanic. Currently, the team lab SuperNature exhibition is on; a 3D interactive space of art, exploring new perceptions of the world through light, levels and art.

There are also special events, with performances at The Venetian Theatre and sports events at Cotai Arena.

Families could also enjoy The Venetian pools; there are four outdoor pools including an adults-only Murano pool and a heated jacuzzi. There are also water slides, an outdoor kids playground and Qube; a kid’s play zone offering climbing structures, computer games and more.

Where to stay in Macau

There are plenty of hotel options in Macau and, although The Venetian is a great choice, we also have some other great options in the Cotai area; this is the ‘Vegas’ area of Macau.

  • City of Dreams – Home to top restaurants and the gorgeous House of Dancing Water, City of Dreams s a mid-range, affordable hotel on the Cotai strip.
  • Studio City Macau – With a fantastic water park and a unique Ferris wheel in the shape of an 8, the Studio City Macau hotel is perfect for families.
  • The Parisian Macao – This Paris-themed hotel is a must for couples looking for a romantic getaway. The theming in this hotel is excellent and deals can be found when booking in advance.

In Macau I was expecting something distinctly oriental but this seems to be totally different. But then, I should have noted the "Venetian" part in the title. he he Macau truly offers the best of the both worlds.

I love the interior of the Venetian Macau Hotel! It looks like a fantastic place to stay. I'll definitely be keeping it in mind for when I have the chance to go to Macau! Thanks for sharing!

I only visit Macau for one evening out, so I surely didn't have the time to see many things. We didn't visit the Venetian as it was far away from the other casinos, but I went there in Vegas, and it was so nice. And also very weird to see Venice indoor! ;)
