EXPLORING THE NORTH: MONTHLY SUMMARY OF APRIL 2017

Welcome to our April Monthly summary! The sun is shining (most of the time) in the UK and we are getting nearer and nearer to the big move.

What’s up?

OK I feel like we haven’t stopped this month!

The month started with a lot of random organising! Did you know you have to give a notice of marriage before you actually get married?! So that was done as was arranging various bits and bobs for the move. I have FINALLY managed to sort out a pre-employment health check too!

As Calum is anticipating a move abroad, we are actively watching every Chelsea FC game of the season. We headed up to Manchester for an away game at Old Trafford and then headed up to London for the FA Cup Semi Final – the first time I have seen a game at Wembley! We end the month by a trip back up north to Liverpool. We went for football but had added an extra day so we can see the city (blogs to come soon) – I loved visiting The Beatles Story and exploring the Albert Docks.

We also spent some time in London to watch a Kasabian concert and are trying to see a bit more of Eastbourne before we move – like the delightful Charlie Browns Diner!

Blog Numbers and Goals

Yeah… our 3 blogs week did not happen this month! Although we loved collabing with other bloggers to give you Where to visit in Canada? and it seems many have enjoyed the Guest Post; 6 tips for travelling Egypt.

Our blog numbers have been pretty steady this month and have increased, with page views this month being 16,935 whilst our user numbers are 6,366 = THANK YOU!!!

Our social media pages are growing slowly and steadily, we are happy with these numbers 🙂

Twitter: 1619

Facebook: 1329

Instagram: 1188

Yay we crossed the thousand mark for instagram! Seems like a mission!

Also this month, I teamed up with Elizabeth from Digital Travel Guru to create a Facebook page for Travel Bloggers – if you have a blog then come along and join us.

Love and Hate

This month I have had real wanderlust! One minute I have been planning a trip to Sri Lanka and India, the next second I want to visit Taiwan and in another breath I want to tour Australia – why are there so many places to visit?!?! #TravelerProblems

8 delicious Asian Desserts – I can’t help but love food (especially dessert) related blog posts! P.S. Is is bad that I have started planning our week in HK around these desserts?!

12 Awesome places to stay in San Francisco – I love staying in unusual/themed/beautiful/quirky hotels around the world so this blog post entertained me greatly.

Indian markets to visit – The blog posts and pictures on Digital Travel Guru’s blog has made India and Sri Lanka a top contender for my “where should we go at Christmas?” dilemma!

2 days in Tokyo – We loved Japan and would love to head back there. I enjoyed reading this itinerary because of the clear layout and awesome pics.

A week in Southeast Asia – This is a super helpful blog for those working out a budget for their trip! I know when we planned our first trip to Asia we didn’t believe how cheap things were, so this is a great guide.

As normal, there is not much I am hating. Maybe I need to re-word this section to dislike? OK I am disliking iPhone screen protectors. Why don’t they stick properly?! I managed to get through 4 this week and in the end I gave up!

Highlight of the month

Our weekend in Liverpool was a highlight and I know Calum loved watching Chelsea beat Tottenham at the FA Cup Final. A personal highlight for me was watching a former dance student perform with a professional ballet company on tour.

Most Popular Blog

We posted a slightly different blog this month that seems to have been fairly popular; Mcdonald’s around the world as was our Top 10 things to do in Hong Kong blog.

Top Instagram Post

One of my fave shots – Sunrise over Angkor Wat!

What’s next?

May will hopefully bring a bit more sun with it! We have a few things already planned – a trip to Birmingham, tickets for Ricky Gervais in Brighton and many more trips up to London to watch the last few games of the season.

Like I mentioned above, we want to see more of the south of England so will be planning some more trips for this month. Any suggestions? Please leave them in the comments below!!
