Best Deep Dish Pizza in Chicago – Gino’s East

I can officially say this is the best pizza I have ever eaten.

Gino’s East serve super delicious deep dish pizza with the toppings on the inside followed by cheese, then the sauce, then some extra cheese!

As seen on Man Vs Food, there are now 6 locations in Chicago but we headed to the original on Superior Street, near Michigan Avenue; a dark restaurant covered in graffiti from happy customers. We were pretty hungry so jumped straight to ordering a large deep dish, Meaty Legend. Beer was a decent price and the restaurant offer free refills on soft drinks.

Customers can leave their mark on the restaurant by writing a message on the walls, chairs and tables!

Our pizza was amazing, with gooey melted mozzarella, fresh and tasty tomato in the sauce and so much meat! Our eyes were too big for our bellies and we ended up taking half of it away to munch on the next morning.

There are loads of pizza spots around Chicago to choose from and on our next trip, we want to try more pizza from different restaurants.

If you are pizza fan, head to Gino’s East for a truly amazing Pizza!

Oh my, I shouldn’t have read this. Now I’m hungry for pizza… The best one I ever had was a real Italian pizza in a small local restaurant in Rome. Would go back to Rome for it!

I feel full just looking at those photos of deep dish! At least I walk off the pizza when I am out exploring Chicago. Yum, pizza!

Finally–this is my kinda pizza! Living on the East Coast it’s all about New York Style (thin as paper) here and that’s just not my jam. I like it thickkkk and this looks fantastic. I’ve definitely heard of Gino’s East somehow… can’t remember where but it’s totally etched in my mind. Can’t wait to try this!

I love any place where you can write on the walls (or anywhere for that matter)! I say the world doesn’t have enough deep-dish pizzas – and now I’m hungry!

I’ve actually never had deep dish pizza! It looks delicious (minus all the meat!). Is there anything better than cold pizza for breakfast!?

Food for me is an integral part of any travel so I am always on the lookout for good food places. Thanks for the information and if I ever make it to Chicago I will try this. I would also mention that the graffiti on the wall is quite a cool idea. reminded me of the tunnel we have to go through in Verona to reach Juliet’s balcony. Cheers.

Argh I shouldn’t have read this post before eating especially when I don’t have much in to cook. Now all I want is pizza 🙂 It looks so tasty. I haven’t been to Chicago but if I do I will certainly be going here!

I’ve always loved thin crust pizza, but whenever we get a chance to visit Chicago, I’m in for the deep dish!! We always travel with the kids and enjoy tasting the local cuisine. Deep dish pizza would be an easy sell. 😉

Sounds absolutely amazing! I haven’t been to Chicago since I was little, and I’d love to go back and explore as an adult. The deep dish pizza alone might be enough to get me there. 🙂

I fell in love with Giordano’s after trying it once in 2001. In 2002, a friend insisted I try Gino’s East. Nothing wrong with it, I just prefer Giordano’s. So much so that during a layover in 2001, I used the train to get from O’Hare to the nearest Giordano’s. Good way to spend a layover. And that was years before the Bourdain show lol!
